A New Approach to Improving Breathing, Expanding Narrow Arches, and Addressing a Root Cause of Crooked Teeth
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — June 3rd, 2026 — Leonhardt Ventures LLC today announced preparation of a provisional patent application covering a next-generation ArchStim™ Smart Expansion & Stabilization System, a two-piece oral appliance platform designed to improve breathing, expand narrow upper arches, and support long-term stabilization of dental arch development.
The system combines:
- A miniature micro gear motor-driven arch expander designed to deliver highly controlled, gradual expansion of the upper dental arch and palate.
- An ArchStim™ bioelectric stimulation mouthpiece designed to deliver patented Leonhardt Ventures bioelectric signaling protocols before, during, and after expansion.
The goal is to create a faster, more comfortable, and more stable approach to arch development while helping improve airway function and nasal breathing.
Addressing a Root Cause of Airway Restriction and Crooked Teeth
Research and clinical experience suggest that a narrow upper arch can contribute to reduced airway volume, mouth breathing, crowding of teeth, and orthodontic relapse. By expanding the upper arch and supporting proper bone remodeling, the ArchStim™ system is designed to address an underlying anatomical cause rather than simply moving teeth into alignment.
“Opening the arch can create more space for the tongue, improve nasal airflow, support healthier facial development, and reduce one of the root causes of crowded and crooked teeth,” said Howard J. Leonhardt, Founder and Executive Chairman of Leonhardt Ventures. “Our goal is to combine precision mechanical expansion with bioelectric signaling that helps prepare the tissues for expansion and then helps stabilize the result afterward.”
Novel Two-Phase Bioelectric Protocol
The provisional patent application covers a two-phase treatment concept:
Phase 1: Bone Remodeling & Expansion Support
Prior to and during arch expansion, the ArchStim™ mouthpiece delivers proprietary bioelectric signaling protocols intended to support healthy bone remodeling, tissue adaptation, circulation, and cellular activity within the palate and surrounding oral structures.
This phase is designed to help prepare the palate and surrounding tissues for controlled expansion.
Phase 2: Post-Expansion Stabilization
After desired arch width has been achieved, the ArchStim™ mouthpiece delivers a second set of bioelectric signaling protocols designed to support stabilization of the expanded arch through continued bone remodeling and maturation.
The objective is to reduce the tendency for arches and teeth to relapse or “bounce back” following treatment.
