LEONHARDT VENTURES ANNOUNCES NEW PROVISIONAL PATENT APPLICATION TARGETING IL-1β AND PGE2 TO ACCELERATE ORTHODONTIC TOOTH MOVEMENT
Patent Intended for Exclusive License to OrthodontiCell, Inc.
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA — June 20, 2026 — Leonhardt Ventures LLC announced today a new provisional patent application covering methods, systems, devices, and treatment protocols designed to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement through targeted induction of Interleukin-1 Beta (IL-1β), Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and related bone remodeling pathways.
The intellectual property is intended to be exclusively licensed to OrthodontiCell, Inc., for accelerated teeth straightening. a portfolio company focused on reducing orthodontic treatment times through proprietary bioelectric stimulation technologies.
The newly filed patent application expands upon more than 18 years of research and development into bioelectric signaling for tissue regeneration and accelerated remodeling. The invention covers the use of bioelectric stimulation delivered through aligners, braces, retainers, mouthpieces, and other orthodontic appliances designed to stimulate biologic pathways associated with faster tooth movement.
IL-1β and PGE2 are recognized as key signaling molecules involved in the bone remodeling process that allows teeth to move through bone during orthodontic treatment. The patent application seeks protection for methods that selectively enhance these pathways, as well as related targets including RANKL, VEGF, BMP-2, SDF-1, PDGF, eNOS, and other remodeling factors.
“Traditional orthodontics relies primarily on mechanical force to move teeth,” said Howard J. Leonhardt, Founder of Leonhardt Ventures and Chairman of OrthodontiCell. “Our objective is to optimize the biology that drives tooth movement. By targeting IL-1β, PGE2, and associated remodeling pathways, we believe it may be possible to significantly reduce treatment times while improving patient experience.”
Orthodontic treatment today commonly requires 12 to 36 months or more to achieve desired alignment. OrthodontiCell is developing technology intended to accelerate the body’s natural remodeling response through precisely controlled bioelectric stimulation.
The provisional patent application covers numerous embodiments, including:
• Bioelectric stimulation systems integrated into aligners, braces, and retainers
• Protocols designed to increase IL-1β and PGE2 expression
• Biomarker-guided treatment optimization
• Artificial intelligence-assisted treatment personalization
• Combination therapies incorporating platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells, exosomes, growth factors, peptides, and regenerative biologics
• Methods for monitoring treatment response using saliva, gingival crevicular fluid, blood biomarkers, and imaging technologies
The filing is expected to further strengthen OrthodontiCell’s growing intellectual property portfolio focused on biologically accelerated orthodontics and regenerative dental medicine.
According to company management, the technology platform is intended to complement existing orthodontic appliances rather than replace them, potentially creating a new category of bioelectric-enhanced orthodontic treatment.
“This filing represents another important step toward transforming orthodontics from a purely mechanical discipline into a biologically guided, precision medicine approach,” Leonhardt added. “Our long-term goal is to provide orthodontists and patients with technologies that can safely shorten treatment times while maintaining excellent clinical outcomes.”
The intellectual property disclosed in the provisional application is owned by Leonhardt Ventures LLC and is expected to be licensed exclusively to OrthodontiCell, Inc. for worldwide commercialization.
